Abstract. The paper justifies the thesis that mythemes are transcendental laws of social and natural reality. The author substantiates the provision that mythemes should be looked upon through the prism of social and natural reality and tries to identify possible causes of uneven manifestation of mythological laws in different types of realities. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that mythemes are endowed with features of scientific laws and are considered to possess equal ontological status in actual and alleged realities. The research findings are as follows: the author proves that mythemes often come out as universal laws that function regardless of reality attitude to material or ideal substance.
