Abstract.
The article is devoted to cognitive metaphors description, with which help the explication of the emotional concept “ПЕЧАЛЬ – TRISTESSE ” is possible in the Russian and French languages. The analysis of the metaphorical combinative power peculiarities of the emotion denominations allows revealing the associative and figurative components of the concept and finding out the specific peculiarities of emotional continuum interpretation by the bearers of different languages.
