ON “FALSE” ALLUSIONS IN TRANSLATION: BY THE MATERIAL OF THE NOVEL BY L. WEISBERGER “EVERYONE WORTH KNOWING”

Abstract.
The article reveals the content of the notions “allusion” and “false allusion” as to translation by the material of the comparison of the original text and translation of the novel by the contemporary American writer L. Weisberger “Everyone Worth Knowing”. The main characteristics of allusion as an inclusion requiring a certain translation solution are considered, and by concrete examples possible reasons of the creation of a “false” allusion in translation, the kinds of reference precedent texts, and also the consequences of a “false” allusion appearance in the text are analyzed.
