CLASSIFICATION OF REDUPLICATES IN GERMAN

Abstract.
This article addresses the issue of inside-the-word repetition in the German language, which is a full or partial doubling of a part of the word, morpheme or the whole word. The paper gives different points of view on the classification of reduplicated formations. Traditionally it is a formal structure that acts as a principle of reduplicates classification, on the basis of this the author singles out full, ablaut and rhymed reduplicates and gives a brief description of each of these groups. For the most part reduplicates have a high degree of expressiveness, which is a characteristic feature of speech.
