Abstract. The article is devoted to revealing the difficulties of translating linguistic means that create an image of the Muslims in the French press. The works by Kareem El Hidjaazi from the collection “L’acculturation des Musulmans de France - La dernière conquête colonial” and their authorial translation into the Russian language served as the research material. Difficulties occurring in the process of the translation of religious terminology and cultural realities are analyzed. Translation recommendations for their overcoming are presented.
