Abstract.
The author considers the two legal terms which can be frequently met in the documents of Southern Mesopotamia since the end of the IIIrd millennium B.C. - misarum and andurarum. The first of them is used both in official public-legal and private-legal texts. The second one was first of all used in law enforcement practice. On the basis of the detailed studyingof source base the following conclusions can be made: each of the terms initially corresponded to one of the two different legal traditions; by the middle of the XVIIIth century B.C. the juridical notion andurarum was included into misarum but at the same time the category misarum remains a public-legal one and in private documents either the term andurarum is applied or the corresponding tsar's decree is mentioned (simdat sarrim).
