Abstract.
The author tackles the genesis and development of such serial narration genre as soap opera, presents the analysis of the series Two Destinies as interdisciplinary one basing on the researches in the sphere of literature and theater, gender and social psychology, mass culture and myth theories; for the first time in native criticism studies TV series as a separate phenomenon with its specific features, undertakes the attempt to consider systematically those TV series qualities, which determine its peculiarities, and conducts the analysis of the mechanisms of influence on spectators from wider culturological positions.
