Abstract.
The author considers the philosophical theory of meaning by R. Millikan, which is based on the attempt of biology and semiotics integration, reveals the notion of linguistic structures proliferation, analyzes the notions of meaning and reference in the analytical philosophy of language, researches the epistemological and ontological foundations of the externalist theory of meaning, and substantiates that the theory of R. Millikan is a version of naturalistic holism.
