MUSICAL CULTURE OF THE MARI ASSR IN 1940

Abstract. The author reveals the features of professional musical art formation in the Mari ASSR during the last pre-war year, analyzes the activity of professional and amateur performing groups, the cultural and educational activity of teachers from Mari Music and Theater School named after I. S. Palantai, and considers a significant event for the culture of the Mari ASSR: the formation of the Organizing Committee of the Union of Soviet Composers.
