Abstract.
The author analyzes the development of urban resettlement system in Khanty-Mansi district during oil and gas development in Western Siberia, reveals three stages of this development, which were based on the conception of the centralized and group resettlement of oil industry workers, and mentions that centralized resettlement in major towns was supported by the leadership of Tyumen' region, and the variant of group resettlement – by the Ministry of Oil Industry of the USSR.
