Abstract.
The problem of the adaptation of the first-year students to the system of higher education has existed over a number of years. The further professional activity and personal development of a future specialist depend considerably on the success of this process. The paper considers adaptation in the context of the socialization of a personality, presents the data of a sociological research and suggests practical recommendations aimed at the solution of the problems connected with the social adaptation of the first-year students.
