Abstract.
The article is devoted to the musical life of the town of Norilsk in the period of the Great Patriotic War. The author investigates the activity of performance ensembles, the variety of their genres. The repertory included opera, operetta, string orchestras, brass bands, jazz bands, choral music, solo performance - vocal and instrumental. As a peculiar feature of the artistic life of the town of Norilsk the researcher emphasizes the formation of musical bands basically from prisoners. The paper evaluates the role of concertizing in the spiritual life of the town.
