Abstract.
In the article the evolution of the conceptual foundations of the foreign cultural policy of Russia in the period of 2000-2014 is considered. Main attention is drawn to the identification of the role of culture in the general line of the foreign policy of the Russian state. On the basis of the analysis of different foreign policy documents of the Russian Federation the author concludes that in the XXI century the Russian state pays special attention to the issues of cultural co-operation not only with the purpose of the formation of good image abroad, the popularization of the Russian language and culture but also for the foreign policy goals achievement.
