Abstract. The article presents an analysis of the names of the English pubs containing anthroponyms, which allows revealing the cultural and historical significance of certain social groups in Great Britain. The pub is considered in the paper as one of the most important elements of the British culture that allows using the names of pubs to identify significant social categories in the British society. This study is conducted on the basis of the English sources, which are little-known to the Russian audience, and presents a new view on the significance of pub names in the English culture.
