ACTIVITY OF REQUISITION-VALUATION COMMISSIONS IN SIMBIRSK REGION DURING THE FIRST WORLD WAR

Abstract.
The article is devoted to the events on commandeering from local population food and industrial goods, which was carried out by special commissions that were established in military department in 1914. Nizhny Novgorod commission, to which Simbirsk region belonged, conducted its activity from 1916 to 1918. Its responsibilities included not only the valuation of the cargoes that were evacuated through Simbirsk region, but also the requisition of grain and food supplies and other goods. All the requisition works were carried out by the police under the supervision of the members of Simbirsk provincial government. The whole procedure of the valuation and seizure of property was registered in relevant documents and implemented within 14 days.
