P. I. NOVGORODTSEV’S ATTITUDE TO I. KANT’S ETHICS

Abstract.
The article reveals specifics of perception of I. Kant’s moral doctrine in P. I. Novgorodtsev’s works. It is found out what the Russian philosopher is for and against in Kant’s ethics. At the same time ethical views of Novgorodtsev himself are clarified. It is revealed that the Russian philosopher notes positive aspects of Kant’s ethics. But he also points to the need to overcome its formalism. Novgorodtsev insists on compulsory realization of the moral ideal in social life. But he does not consider it possible to achieve fullness of morality in the earthly life that makes him close to Kant.
