Abstract. The article is devoted to the topical theme of socio-patriotic orientation of the humanities education at higher school by the example of creating a collective students’ project symbolizing commonwealth of national cultures of the peoples of the North Caucasus. In the work the issue of formation in the student group of the feeling of tolerance, respect and friendship of different nationalities in the process of collaborative work is covered. The author focuses on selection of the project topics, the field of study of the project materials, the content of the terms “patriotic and social orientation of the project subject”, “social targeting of the project”, and “socially oriented projection”.
