LOGICAL POSITIVISM AND MODERN FORMAL PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE

Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of the strategy of scientific knowledge formalization and axiomatization, proposed within the framework of the logical positivism program. The paper discusses the relationship between the epistemic and formal-logical parts of the program. The main problems associated with the proposed (standard) method of formalizing scientific theories are formulated. The fundamental role of the logical positivism program in the development of modern formal philosophy of science and, in particular, in the development of the set-theoretic (semantic) strategy of scientific theories axiomatization is underlined.
