Abstract. The processes occurring in modern times lead to a change in the forms of the existence of religion. Along with religion there is a discourse of spirituality, suggesting a personal search, a movement towards answers to existential questions beyond the institutional religions. This situation raises many questions about the existence of religion, its evolution, and other forms of existence of the sacred and individual. The authors consider main approaches to the topic of new spirituality in the sociology of religion and outline the contours of new spirituality and the reasons for its popularity among women.
