Abstract.
The article attempts to determine the main characteristics - specificity and national features - of the Chinese decorative art on the basis of analytical generalization of research works of leading contemporary art historians of the People’s Republic of China. Carrying out the historical analysis of the tendencies determining the peculiarity of the national style of the Chinese decorative art, the author turns to the origins of this type of artistic culture of China, taking into account the achievements of Western art history in the field of cultural and sociological research of the notions of artistic style and tradition.
