EVALUATION OF THE ARTISTIC AVANT-GARDE AS SOCIO-CULTURAL TRANSFORMATION IN THE WORK OF V. WEIDLE “THE DYING ART”

Abstract.
The article analyzes the work of Vladimir Weidle “The Dying of Art” for the evaluation of the avant-garde culture. It is shown that his evaluation of culture of the end of the XIX - the beginning of the XX century is close to the eschatological interpretation. Weidle analyzes in detail the causes of crisis, its essence and possible outcomes. The thinker offers a revival of the religious principle in art and culture in general as a way out of crisis. The analysis of Weidle’s work demonstrates that the characteristic of the avant-garde culture given by him contains implicitly its evaluation as a transitional stage, defined as a socio-cultural transformation in the dynamics of the European culture.
