SHAMANISM AS NATURAL RELIGION

Arzhan Ivanovich Toboev
Gorno-Altaysk

Submitted: December 1, 2017
Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of one of the forms of natural religion - Siberian shamanism. Natural religion is a category in philosophy and science that denotes the pagan beliefs of “primitive” peoples. The general ideology of the European science is that polytheistic religions are a certain stage in the evolution of the religious views of a man. According to this logic the Christian faith must be the result of the spiritual evolution of the man. The author shows the inconsistency of such a Eurocentric point of view and substantiates the thesis about shamanism as natural religion of the peoples of Siberia.
