Abstract. The article is devoted to the formation of a modern urban landscape emerging at the junction of tradition and innovation. The processes of globalization, migration of the foreign ethnic population constantly change the cultural landscape of the modern city. In some cases, the new space poses a threat to the subject, forcing him to leave the habitual space, but in other cases he himself seeks to comprehend and consume the Alien space, appropriating it and incorporating it into his culture. All this is clearly seen by the example of the modern alimentary tradition.
