Abstract. The article reveals the significance of the liar paradox through the prism of reflective judgment. Ethical and epistemological grounds for a well-known ancient formula are revealed. The abilities to identify and predict are assumed by the methodological framework of reflection, which makes it possible to claim a general validity. So, with the help of the notion of the liar paradox and two forms of common sense, the author states a new rationale for the connection between the Cartesian Cogito and the Kantian judgment ability.
