Verbal Text as Compositional Material in Georges Aperghis’s Works

Abstract.
The purpose of the study is to characterise specific nature of Georges Aperghis’s work with the verbal text in chamber compositions. Aperghis systematically turns to phonemes and words in different genres: in chamber music, musical theatre. The composer uses prosodic elements in instrumental lines, creates allusions to rhetorical utterances and percussive elements in speech. Scientific novelty lies in identifying the main principles of Aperghis’s work with the text. As a result, it is determined that the author uses structural components of the text in rhetorical, percussive and word-painting compositional elements.
