Abstract.
The article examines the play activities of primary school children in a modern family. The purpose of the study is to identify modern features of joint play activities of children and their parents. The significance of play in the development of primary school children is substantiated, despite the change in the leading type of activity. It is noted that the developmental effect of play is enhanced by the participation of an adult in the game itself or its organization, the creation of a family play environment. The results of a survey of primary school children and their parents are presented, which allowed us to draw a conclusion about the current state of joint play activities in the family. The following aspects of play activities in the modern family were studied: the frequency and types of games that the child plays at home; the child’s attitude to games with their parents; preferences for mobile and computer games including the presence or absence of parental restrictions; the child’s wishes or suggestions related to the nature of joint games with parents. The survey of parents was aimed at considering the following aspects: the frequency and types of play activities shared by children and their parents, the degree of parental involvement in children’s play, parents’ perception of their child’s attitude towards playing together, parents’ view of computer and mobile games of their children. The scientific novelty of the study lies in identifying the characteristic features of joint play activities of primary school children and their parents, both in relation to traditional games and games in a virtual environment. As a result of the research, recommendations were developed for parents on organizing joint play activities in the family, which are aimed at creating conditions for the development of cognitive, emotional and moral spheres and creativity of the child, the ability to perceive mistakes as points of growth, strengthening family relationships, trust, mutual understanding.
