Professional preferences and motivational attitudes of schoolchildren in a vacation shift

Abstract.
The aim of the work is to identify the professional preferences and motivational attitudes of schoolchildren participating in a career guidance shift to assess the pedagogical potential of vacation shifts as a condition for promoting the professional self-determination of the individual. The article characterizes the theoretical foundations of understanding professional self-determination as a multi-stage process, its activity-based nature, and the role of the individual's subject position in building their own educational and professional trajectory in the context of schoolchildren's participation in career guidance programs. The results of an empirical study conducted within a career guidance vacation shift in a children's health camp are presented. Using the questionnaire method, the shift participants aged 11-16 were surveyed. The toolkit included 19 questions covering readiness for professional choice, motives for participating in the shift, factors influencing professional self-determination, and preferred formats of educational and career guidance activities. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the empirical substantiation of the pedagogical potential of vacation career guidance shifts as an environment for promoting professional self-determination based on the analysis of subjective professional preferences and motivational attitudes of schoolchildren, which allows for a transition from the regulatory-organizational design of such programs to their personality-oriented correction, taking into account the real demands of the target audience. As a result of the study, it was established that the majority of participants had already thought about choosing a profession (79.7%), but only 20.3% had a clear professional intention. The leading factor of professional choice is one's own interests (81.4%). The dominant motivational attitude for participating in the shift is the orientation toward cognitive and recreational activity. The obtained data confirm the pedagogical potential of vacation career guidance shifts as an environment for initiating and supporting the process of professional self-determination of the individual.
