Abstract. The author reveals the features of national-cultural specificity of the English and Spanish linguo-cultures represented in phraseological units-ethnonyms as the most widespread and at the same time belonging to the different systems of unrelated languages. Since phraseological units are the representation of different ethnic groups’ cultural experience, and cultures have the established language code, then studied linguistic units, firstly, represent a certain set of stereotypes, showing the traits specific to this ethnic group, the features of intellectual development, based on immutable contact in linguo-cultures under conditions of intercultural communication; and secondly, express not special characteristics of the particular group of people, but some general idea of foreign as alien, opposed to their own.
