Abstract. The author reveals the leading role of the French argot in the Arabic vocabulary borrowing and in the formation of meanings, with which it is used, becoming a part of the French popular language, analyzes the words of Arabic origin, functioning today in the youth slang of France, and provides the evidence that these words may eventually move from the sphere of limited use into the popular French language.
