Abstract. In the article the sense toponyms are considered from the point of view of the unreal world representation typical for the English folk tale. During the sense toponyms semantics analysis the authors determine that the tale text geographical objects, having the invented character, on the one hand, can be linked to the work context functioning as the characterization way of tale reviewer or playing a sense role during work content disclosure, and, on the other hand, the toponyms sense can be «encoded», i.e. their semantics is required the decoding at the toponym interpretation level.
