STRUCTURAL-SEMANTIC ANALYSIS OF ENGLISH SEMANTICALLY INDIVISIBLE METAPHORIC PHRASEOLOGICAL UNITS

Abstract. In the article the attempt is undertaken to conduct the structural-semantic analysis of indivisible metaphoric phraseological units. The semantic integrity of the phraseological unit is defined as impossibility to transform its structure with passivizing. For the first time the functional stratification of metaphoric phraseological units components according to the degree of semantic independence and further repeatability in the meaning defined with a certain context is given. The classification of language levels suggested by M. V. Nikitin is used as the research basis.
