Abstract. In the article the Afrikaans-English vocabulary is analyzed according to four characteristics – functional (use frequency), syntagmatic (combinatory), paradigmatic (inclusion into synonymous rows) and epidigmatic ones (polysemanticism) – to reveal the lexico-semantic nucleus of the Afrikaans language. The research is based on the theoretical conception of parametric analysis worked out by V. T. Titov that he tested by the material of the Romanic languages dictionaries. Such research of the Afrikaans language is the first.
