THE ASSOCIATIVE AND COGNITIVE SEMANTICS OF GREEDINESS IN RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH PROVERBS

Abstract.
The article is prepared within the framework of comparative linguoculturological investigation of moral and value concept “greediness” in Russian and English cultures. Being by its nature an inherent quality, greediness is imprinted in the process of socialization under conditions of concrete society, acquiring along with the universal qualities the ethno-specific ways of verbalization. Comparative procedure of cognitive and semasiological analysis of the proverbs of Russian and English languages including the identification of associative relations of the proverbs and their prototypical models secures identification of the integrity of common and culture specific cognitive features of a concept.
