Abstract.
The article considers the different opinions of the linguists about the essence of the conception of translation transformation. The author analyzes the criteria of certain classifications and certain techniques of translation transformations as interlingual transformations, the reconstruction of the elements of the original text, the operations of reformulation of meaning or paraphrasing with a view to achieve the translation equivalent. The specific of translation transformations is observed by the material of the translation of the novels of the Greek writer N. Kazantzakis “Zorba the Greek” and “The Greek Passion”.
