Abstract.
The article examines the educational potential of video material in foreign language classes in the context of competence approach; the authors show the role of video material as an effective means for foreign language teaching, developing sociocultural competence and forming an authentic verbal environment. The paper presents exercises and tasks to be used while working with video.
