Abstract. The article covers the issues of translation of culturally-based vocabulary and realia in a literary text from the perspective of cultural-oriented translation strategies. The authors discuss the problem of skopos-theory, which idea is in the selection of a vector of translation: the skopos of a source test or the skopos of a translation text. The methodological basis of the article is the authors’ theory of harmonization of the translation space.
