Abstract.
The article examines the problem of formation of the professional foreign language communicative competence as one of the basic elements of the competence of a teacher of a modern technical university. The author describes the specifics of a discipline “Language of business and professional communication” as an element of the advanced training programme in the English language for the scientific and pedagogical workers of a technical higher school.
