COMBINATORIAL CHARACTERISTICS OF SPEECH ACT OF APOLOGIZING “SORRY”

Abstract.
The article examines two basic meanings of the expressive “ sorry” . In concretized meaning the analyzed expressive of apology transfers regret for the caused damage and presupposes the admission of guilt by the addresser (addresser +). In general meaning the expressive of apology “ sorry” transfers regret for the circumstances non-dependent on the addresser (addresser -). The authors also analyze the combinatorial characteristics of this speech act, i.e. what kind of speech acts the examined expressive is compatible with in each of its meanings.
