Abstract.
The article examines the issue of a changing role of the German language as means of international scientific communication, the causes of weakening of its impact at the background of increasing the role of the English language are considered. The author presents a historical review of the development of the German language scientific communication and its influence on the formation of scientific and technical thought in the world. The paper substantiates the necessity to preserve national languages in scientific communication at the background of using the English language as a universal simplified tool of international communication.
