Abstract.
The article examines the issues of vocabulary borrowing from the English language into French in the sphere of sports. It is found out that in the French sports terminology there is a large number of anglicisms that is explained by the development of corresponding techniques of various kinds of sports in the English-speaking world. As a result of the study the lexical-semantic analysis of the French sports terms of the English origin is conducted, and also the peculiarities of their derivation are discovered.
