Abstract.
Tourism sphere is developing very actively in our country. In this context great importance is given to the translation and adaptation of excursion materials for a foreign audience. In the process of translation many difficulties appear, associated primarily with the lexical-semantic problems. An important component of the excursion discourse is the functioning of certain lexical layers in it, which include professionalisms, jargon, slang words, neologisms, archaisms, Sovietisms, which can be united with one concept of non-equivalent vocabulary. For the translator it is necessary to know all the techniques of non-equivalent vocabulary translation for the successful and adequate transmission of it and minimization of the loss of the national colour.
