Abstract. The relevance of this research area is conditioned by a number of personal problems of blind and visually impaired people. The author argues that the severity of visual deficiency determines the mentioned problems of blind and visually impaired children and emphasizes their immediate dependence on the period when visual deficiency occurred. The paper provides the results of studying the personal problems of blind and visually impaired children by the example of the boarding school N 33 of Novocherkassk city.
