Abstract. The article deals with the problem of verbalization of the volumetric concept “age” from the perspective of cultural linguistics by the material of the German and Russian languages. The methods, that allow realizing verbally specific concepts of “childhood” and “old age” in these two languages, are presented. During the study of anthropocentric notions the authors substantiate the need to analyze not only the conceptual characteristics, but also the value component of the studied concept, which allows displaying generic and specific characteristics in the hierarchy of cultural values of two sociums.
