LEXICO-SEMANTIC PROCESSES IN TERMINOLOGY: METAPHOR IN ARCHITECTURAL TERMINOLOGY

Abstract.
The article examines the peculiarities of lexico-semantic means to form architectural terms. The special attention is paid to the process of colloquial word terminologization. The author identifies the dependence of terminological metaphor formation on the unconscious tendency of individual’s brain to form new pieces of knowledge on the basis of those already available and verbalized in specialist’s linguistic worldview. The paper analyzes different indications of lexical meaning transfer and identifies the most productive lexico-semantic groups of terms-metaphors.
