Abstract.
The article by the material of the novel by Qian Zhongshu “Fortress Besieged” analyzes the mistakes occurring when translating literary work from the Chinese into Russian. Comparing original text and the translation performed by V. F. Sorokin the authors examine by the concrete examples the certain categories of translator’s mistakes. The authors show the difficulties in choosing an adequate expression of the Chinese sociocultural realia and conclude on the causes of translator’s mistakes.
