STYLISTIC DIVERSITY OF W. S. MAUGHAM’S NOVEL “THE RAZOR’S EDGE” AND TRANSLATION ISSUES

Abstract.
The article is devoted to the consideration of some peculiarities of translation of stylistically marked lexical and phraseological units. The material of the study is the novel by the English writer S. Maugham “The Razor’s Edge” and its translation into French and Russian. The comparative analysis of translations of one work into different languages shows how national-cultural peculiarities of languages are manifested and also reveals translators’ stylistic preferences, conditioned by the linguistic traditions formed in the language.
