Abstract. The translations of Shakespeare’s sonnets into Russian are perceived increasingly by translators as a single poetic cycle. Some authors substantiate such an interpretation theoretically. This helps to comprehend more accurately the translation approach and evaluate the author’s innovation in the search for the cycle-forming foundations of Shakespeare’s sonnet collection. The purpose of this article is to examine the theoretical works of two authoritative modern translators - V. B. Mikushevich and J. M. Kolker. These authors are most convincing in the analytical explanation of their views on the unity of Shakespeare’s poetic collection.
