Abstract.
Within the framework of this article the linguistic material of the French language characterizing some aspects of the realization of the binary opposition “happiness / unhappiness” through the lenses of phraseology is systematized. Conclusions are drawn about the most numerous phraseosemantic groups of this subject matter. Particular attention is paid to the connotative and structural peculiarities of phraseological units of the selected subject matter in order to reveal information about the peculiarities of culture and national attitude of representatives of the French ethnos to this binary opposition.
