Abstract.
The article is devoted to analyzing stylistic peculiarities of translating literary works from Russian into English. The paper aims to examine stylistic strata in the source text and to identify the basic techniques to translate them. The author discovers the typical features of official and publicistic styles, analyzes stylistic peculiarities of a target text, identifies the difficulties the translator comes across when transferring them by means of the English language and the relevant translator’s solutions, and provides the examples of using stylistic realia and means of artistic expressiveness.
