NEUTRALIZATION OF VOICE RELATIONS IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Abstract.
The article summarizes the author’s observations on the use of the voice forms of the English verb. It opens with the brief overview of opinions on the category of voice in English. However, the focus is on the cases of neutralization of voice meanings. Two types of neutralization are considered in the work: the tendency of the English verb to use the voice form to express non-voice meanings; the use of an unmarked member of the opposition of a number of verbs to express meanings that are characteristic for both active and passive forms. This is the novelty of the annotated article.
